Studies show that by 2020 there will be more than 20 billion connected devices, generating $300 billion in revenue. As the internet of things explodes, companies must grapple with transitioning to IoT platforms in order to stay relevant. This session utilizes HomeAdvisor’s Alexa skill as a case study in creating a proof of concept voice experience as a means of breaking into the IoT world. The presenters will discuss the challenges of creating a voice only product and the intricacies of developing for Alexa. The talk will then transition into an overview of where this space is heading and the challenges that lie ahead.
