25 years in product development and working side by side with engineering teams has shaped my perspective on each discipline. Both have their core competencies and tradeoffs. In this session, we will discuss the differences between an Industrial Designer and Mechanical Engineer with the goal of helping you understand which is right for your product. We will look at their educational path and how that shapes their approach to projects. Through case studies from my 15yrs at BOA Technology, we will examine the impact that each discipline has had on the business as BOA has grown from a small startup to the global leader in performance fit solutions.
