Giving the Energy Bar Market a Gen-Z Makeover

Meet Casey Nunnelly and Sabina Rizzo, cousin duo and female co-founders of Byte Bars, a local CPG startup that is giving the energy bar market a Gen-Z makeover. Byte launched at the University of Colorado Boulder in 2019, and now can be found at Whole Foods Markets in CO and will soon hit the shelves at King Soopers. Competing in a saturated snack bar market, Byte Bars worked with Cast Iron Design (now T.O.O.O.T.) to develop a brand identity that subverts stereotypical “crunchy granola” aesthetics. The outcome is a brand that appeals to a younger generation with a bold identity and light-hearted irreverence.

Jonny Black, co-founder of T.O.O.O.T, will lead the panel, walking the audience through the strategy behind Byte Bars brand identity. Casey and Sabina will address panel questions about how they broke into the saturated category, claiming a market share after just a year on the shelf at Whole Foods Market.
