Why It's Time to Embrace Storytelling as the New Marketing
Whether companies realize it or not, they are all media companies. Thanks to the prevalence of technology and social media, every company, from startups to corporations, has the capability to create and share powerful and compelling stories to a massive audience. These stories may vary from blogs, case studies, videos, podcasts, social media posts, or email newsletters. While companies may realize their storytelling capability, very few understand how to do it well and in a way that allows them to better engage, convert, and retain new customers.
This talk will delve into why entrepreneurs, marketers, and companies alike need to stop thinking like marketers and need to start thinking like storytellers. First, we’ll discuss how the marketing landscape has drastically changed, looking more like the media landscape, and why marketers must change and adapt to this new landscape as well. Then, we’ll dive into the best practices and strategies of some of the greatest storytellers in the world, from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Lucasfilm and explore how their storytelling techniques can be applied to business and marketing in pursuits of explosive and sustainable business growth.
Attendees of this talk will immediately know how to integrate storytelling into their marketing efforts, whether ranging from an elaborate marketing campaign to simply creating engaging social media posts.
Lastly, this is a follow-up, or sequel to the talk that speaker Chris Deardorff gave last year on The Power of Storytelling, which was one of the most highly attended sessions at Denver Startup Week 2018. If you liked that session, you’re going to love this one.
