Colonel France is Permanent Professor and Head of the Department of Astronautics, United States Air Force Academy as well as Chairman of the Engineering Division. He commands the Department of Astronautics with final responsibility for curriculum, personnel, research, budget, long-range planning, faculty development, and cadet instruction.

Col. France will present the basic definitions and laws governing orbital mechanics and describe how astronautical engineers and mission design specialists choose the right orbits for the satellites we launch as well as the dangers and threats of orbital debris and how we track the tens of thousands of operational satellites and pieces of junk that continue to circle the Earth each day.

Zines and You: How Counterculture Changes the World

Kelly Shortandqueer is one of the co-founders of the Denver Zine Library, a nonprofit founded in 2003 whose mission is to preserve, protect and promote the culture of zines and self-published original work that currently houses one of the largest zine collections in North America with a preserved collection of over 15,000 independent and alternative zines.

Beyond a basic introduction to zines and zinesters, Kelly will present on the influence and importance of zine culture as a medium to document and share the voices of those who don’t find themselves reflected in mainstream media.
