Interviewing Users: The Art of Asking Questions

Quantitative data helps explain What is happening, but it doesn't explain Why it's happening. Qualitative data helps us better understand users and their behavior, but this isn't always easy. In fact, interviewing users is deceptively difficult, especially if you want to get actionable insights. In this interactive session, we'll investigate asking unbiased questions, the complexities of interacting with humans (all the feelings!), and functional tips to make the most of customer interviews.

Rachel Wynn and Emily McCammon are combining their experience as a Product Manager and Product Design Lead to discuss the art of asking questions and talking to users. Together they have 18 years of experience talking to users and customers, in roles including qualitative user research instructor, UX designer, product manager, and therapist. Our goal is to lead an interactive session that will creatively inspire participants to talk to users, even if they are a team of one.
