Why Oral Pitches Fall Apart & Five Tips to Make Sure Yours Doesn’t

Crafting a great oral pitch is more than showcasing your product and market opportunity. Great pitches, the ones that lead to action, are constructed in a way that brings together the human need to ‘fight or flight’, with an actionable solution your business provides. In this session, we’ll discuss common mistakes entrepreneurs make when pitching, ways you can avoid making them and also dive into the science of storytelling and why the hero's journey is more than just a Hollywood structure.

Come learn from Tim Shisler who for the past ten years has taken big, disparate concepts and distilled them into manageable narratives that connect with audiences. In 2016, Tim founded a consulting firm that helps businesses unpack and articulate their vision. Recently he has worked with a number of startups and accelerator programs -- Techstars Boulder, Travelport Labs, Catalyze CU -- to help them structure and write their pitches. I live and breath the chance to help people tell their story and also understand how to articulate what matters to them.

Tim's speaking experience includes TEDxBoulder, Ignite Boulder, and several workshops at various travel conferences including the Society of American Travel Writers Global Convention and TBEX. I’ll come prepared with examples and real world advice to help founders in all aspects of the pitch.
