Level up your career with (soft) skill points!

Let’s take a moment and unchain ourselves from Web3, shuffle away from Swift, flutter away from frameworks, and let’s talk about your career!

Sure, you’ve perfected the art of indentation and mastered the mayhem of merge conflicts, but now that you have a solid developer skillset, you’re wondering what’s next?!

In this brief presentation we'll discuss soft skills that will help you take your career to the next level. We'll explore what soft skills are (in a fun and unique way), dive into ways to help your non-developer teammates, discuss tips for technical presentations, as well as go over a few things that might help you stand out in an interview.

Each topic should last roughly 8-10 minutes, for around 25-30 minutes of total presentation time. It’s my goal to help the audience recognize some areas for self improvement, as well as equip them with a few options to help them going forward.

Speaker:
Chris Boren - Staff Engineer, Clique Studios

--

Chris Boren is a Staff Engineer with Clique Studios, and he’s had a wild ride of a career:

First he fixed computers, originally for a small software company as their IT Technician, and then as the co-founder of a repair shop where he dabbled in web on the side.

Then he managed brands, growing the online presence of a few large fan conventions as well as a healthcare system’s EMS division.

Now, he builds experiences. He’s previously worked as a Frontend Developer at a financial industry startup, but over the past 4 years he’s settled down as a Fullstack Staff Engineer at Clique Studios, spending his days building amazing websites and web apps for many brands you know, designed by some of the best minds in the industry.

He currently resides in Southern California with his wife, 2 year old son, and two cats named after the Star Trek character "Dax".
