Small but Mighty: How Structured Interviewing Provides Power for Small Recruitment Teams

When a startup's entire team is already small, it's People function is certainly smaller. Smart recruitment is essential in any company, but it's absolutely critical in early-stage startups. Learn how to structure your recruiting process to increase quality, efficiency, and productivity. And most importantly, learn how recruitment is a true team effort.

Panelists:

Annie Elliott is a Senior Recruiter and Sourcing Practice Manager at IQTalent Partners Inc., an on-demand recruiting service with an international presence. In her role at IQTP, Annie manages over 20 consultants, develops internal systems for managing metrics and client communications, and has partnered with dozens of companies, from startups to Fortune 500s, successfully solving their talent acquisition challenges and assisting in the creation of their in-house hiring functions. She has a wealth of recruiting experience in industries ranging from tech to fintech and from cybersecurity to digital media. She was a Global Leadership Scholar at the University of Tennessee and is currently an MBA Candidate at the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado, Boulder.

Kendra Haberkorn's career and curiosity have always centered on people and what makes this journey through life and work more interesting and rewarding. With roles across the talent and HR functions at companies like McKinsey & Company, Newmont Mining and as VP, People at both Craftsy and Guild Education, she's spent years thinking about every element of the employee experience. Today, she consults with emerging companies and established brands, writes and dedicates more time to HistoriCity, the event and tour company she started with her friend Grace.

Derek Johnson leads Global Talent Acquisition, Onboarding, Employer Branding, and Facilities for Prologis where he is responsible for developing and directing the strategic approach to recruit and retain talent at Prologis. Derek brings 10+ years of experience in People Talent including acquisition, development, management, and retention. He is passionate about building scalable, inclusive institutional cultures where HR is a strategic advocate in today’s global workforce. Derek spent time crafting his skills at Google, Return Path, and CH2M Hill, as well as being a consultant for a number of technology-focused startups globally.

Lauri Putt Needleman believes in the power of people, the humans who bring teams together and climb to great heights of success. As the VP, People and Talent at Pie Insurance today, she gets to build, develop and support incredible teams of talented Pie-oneers who are blazing a trail of disruption through the commercial insurance industry. Through prior experiences with RapidAdvance, a Quicken Loans FOC company, as well as AFP Advisors Network and Fannie Mae, she’s learned what talent acquisition and development can achieve in the highly dynamic environments. Lauri lives in Washington, DC, with her family and two adorable pups. She feels lucky to get to split her time between DC and Denver with her fellow Pie-oneers.

Ryan Peterson is the Director of Sales at Pie Insurance. Ryan joined Pie in March 2019 and is responsible for building and leading the inside sales team.
