Generating Strategic Value Through Interpersonal and Online Networks for Founders

Social Networks, both online and offline, have traditionally been touted as one of the first steps to grow your entrepreneurial enterprise. However, do social networks actually lead to tangible benefits for startup enterprises? Does it even matter? To what extent and in what circumstances does it matter? How can entrepreneurs use networks to generate interest, attract investors, employees, consumers, and other stakeholders?
This panel, consisting of entrepreneurial scholars and consultants, who have studied the role of networks in startup enterprises and venture decision-making, will peel away the intuitive understanding of generating value through relationships. The talk will provide a research-based understanding of how social networks benefit entrepreneurial enterprises. The talk will focus on how investors tend to evaluate founder network connections; and how social networks can be developed and leveraged. In addition, we will talk about how successful start-up companies have used their networking skills and social media presence to expand and grow their businesses.
