As a mobile developer since 2010, no singular technology has reshaped the way I think of building mobile applications than the introduction of Google's Firebase into GoSpotCheck's mobile tech stack. Firebase, and specifically Firestore, its database component, have helped us change our understanding of on device storage, platform parity, and offline availability.

In this session, we'll talk about the historic barriers to entry of connecting a mobile application to a data backend, how we've been able to remove an entire networking library from both iOS and Android projects, and why we now think about data differently on mobile devices.
