Accelerators are everywhere, promising to help startups grow, raise capital, and beat the odds. But anyone who has participated in an accelerator knows the frustrations of mentor whiplash, annoyingly inconvenient schedules, less than helpful content, and arbitrary stress and intensity. So the question becomes...are accelerators really the best way to help startups succeed? Or can we design better systems and structures to help startups that better align with the needs of founders at every stage of their development. In this working session, we'll go back to first principles. We'll examine the key flaws of the accelerator model and then break into small groups to imagine new solutions for a possible post-accelerator world.
