Motion graphics and illustration in digital product design are useful tools in emotional design. Motion graphics in digital products doesn’t only have to be functional - providing context, wayfinding, and spacial awareness, it can also be a stage for boosting positive emotions, soothe frustration and encourage action. But motion in UI, if not used properly, can be burdensome. And even when appropriate, it can be difficult to source the engineering bandwidth assigned to implementing animations. In this talk we’ll go over use cases for exciting animation, look at some successful examples, and share some fun stories about working animation into a design system.
