There is a trend in hardware development to use 3D modeling and simulation software for rapid prototyping and estimating a product’s performance to reduce development costs and iterations cycles. While there are many innovations in modeling and simulations, they are not adequate to prepare a hardware product for manufacturing and mass production nor can they replace the hard work of testing a physical product and documenting all of its requirements to ensure the delivered product meets the intent of the design.
