Local cult celebrity Josh Weinberg, creator of TheWebsiteIsDown.com delivers a deep dive on the use of Puzzle Dependency Graphs and business process analysis in game design and development. Starting with a practical answer to the question "What is a Puzzle?" and progressing through a fully worked example from the seminal adventure game "The Day of the Tentacle". The topic includes guidance on how to construct a Puzzle Dependency Graph using various common software packages and explores what analysis of these graphs can tell you about a game's puzzles, story structure and gameplay balance.

Josh Weinberg originally presented this talk at the 2016 Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.
