The Three Simple Steps to Protect Your Business from Cyber Attacks

I get it, all startups are on a budget and most folks don’t believe they have the time or resources to address cyber-attacks effectively. The thing is, these threats are real, and have the potential to shut down a business, large or small, and small businesses are increasingly becoming the target of cyber criminals. There are three simple things you can do to put your company on the right track and get ahead of most organizations when it comes to protecting yourself against cyber threats.

Rather than bore you with a long pitch to hook you into the session here is the net-net of what you need to implement:

- A reliable backup and restore solution

- Good up-to-date anti-virus

- Patch, Patch, Patch (This one is critical)

If you are doing these things and are confident they’re all functioning as expected, you’re ahead of most companies and session over! If not, it might be worth taking the time to understand how to implement and verify you’re protecting your organization properly.

We’ll cover:

- The basics of what an anit-virus can and cannot do and how to manage around what it doesn’t offer in terms of protection

- The importance of Backup AND Restore, emphasis on Restore, since many times organizations never check to see if they can restore from their backups

- What patching and patch management is, why it’s so critical and how to put a patch routine in place

All of this will be discussed with a focus on cost and an understanding that a small business doesn’t have the resources nor desire to focus on cybersecurity. Our goal is to educate, provide the fundamentals that any organization needs to have a successful security posture and do it all on a budget.
